The Public Schools of Brookline (PSB) serves over 7,500 students in Kindergarten to grade 12. We operate eight elementary (K-8) schools and one high school in the Town of Brookline. POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Gr. 4-8 Building Sports Coordinator (BSC) will be responsible for overseeing the intramural and extramural programming. The BSC will work under the direction of the District's Intramural and Extramural Coordinators to ensure consistency with the programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Extramural Sports-Request that your Principal send out an email 1 month prior to each season's start to all Gr. 7/8 families regarding registration on FamilyID.
  • Develop "coaches responsibilities" folder for all extramural coaches.
  • Remember to include practice/game attendance sheets (provided) which will be submitted with payroll. Also include concussion report form and warning signs for parents, rules, schedule, philosophy, and contact phone numbers given to you in Sept. packet and posted on our conference. Finally, print out student information sent to you from FamilyID in case of emergency.
  • Set seasonal practice schedules for after school activities (3 sport seasons). Includes the 7/8 extramural sport seasons, Gr. 5-8 intramural Cross Country in Fall, Track & Field, and other Intramural sports.
  • Must complete concussion training.
  • Work with Principal to hire coaches.
  • Maintain concussion training records for all coaches; must be completed prior to start of season.
  • Keep track of hours from people leading intramurals and extramurals. Be sure coach tracks athlete attendance.
  • Work with Payroll for coaches timesheets.
  • Supply and collect equipment for all after school activities.
  • Handout and collect uniforms. It is best to collect immediately after last game. Request payment for lost/damaged shirts.
  • Hire & secure officials for both 7/8 grade Volleyball Games.
  • Perform referee duties if unable to secure officials
  • Submit officials' payment forms to Payroll.
  • Cover crowd control at home games, and plan to help at tournament games (whether or not your team is involved).
  • Announcements/bulletin, post and circulate schedules to communicate sport information for students, parents, school personnel/administration.
  • Report scores to the Extramual Sports Coordinator after each game.
