Billing Surgical Charge Coder

*JOB SUMMARY:*

The Billing Charge Coder must demonstrate a sense of pride and passion for ensuring all charges are accurate and result in timely and proper reimbursement.

*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*

· Point of contact for provider based billing questions, i.e. coding process, new codes, etc.

· Review all new codes before implementation

· Provides necessary surgical quotes to patient and pre-collects any outstanding money due before surgery

· Enters charges daily for ENT surgical patients from dictation

· Requests and follows up on any missing surgical reports

· Verifies that codes are correct level and all codes are entered for specific service

· Reviews and reconciles all unresolved encounter weekly

· Other responsibilities as delegated by management

· Back up to be done by Payment Contract Specialist

· Other duties as assigned.



*MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: *

*REQUIRED EDUCATION:*

High School Diploma (or GED)

*REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:*

1. 2 years’ experience working in a medical office performing medical billing processes.

2. 2 years billing experience.

3. Preferably, certified coder background.

4. Experience with Greenway EHR.

5. CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 proficiency

*REQUIRED SKILLS:*

1. Professional verbal and written communication skills.

2. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access).

3. Knowledge of medical billing.

4. Knowledge of Greenway Intergy preferred, but not required.

5. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Standard office equipment, including, but not limited to computer, phone, fax, copier.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
