Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades is a safety net clinic that provides free access to healthcare for low-income individuals in Central Oregon (Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties) without insurance. We engage volunteers, supervised by staff, to provide medical and dental services on a pro bono basis. Our patient-centered, inclusive, approach provides a caring environment that promotes and respects the dignity, culture and values of our patients and families free from bias, stigma, and indifference.

*Job Description*

This is a part time position for someone interested in working in a multi-cultural environment to help underserved community members with the support of volunteers. Ideal candidates will strive to create and maintain positive, inclusive relationships with pharmaceutical donors, community partners, staff, volunteers, and patients. In this role you will be dispensing, under pharmacist supervision, both prescription and over the counter medicine to patients. You will also be responsible for entering prescriptions, as well as recording and verifying patient information while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulations.

Successful applicants will demonstrate excellent communication skills, an affinity for great customer service, attention to detail and feeling comfortable with working in a fast-paced work environment.



*Primary Responsibilities*



· Receive prescriptions or refill requests and prepare them under pharmacist’s supervision, ensuring that information is complete and accurate.

· Enter prescription information into computer databases.

· Establish or maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

· Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.

· Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.

· Coordinate the use of new Patient Assistance Programs and monthly refills to secure medicines in a timely manner for all patients.

· Provide a positive and motivating work environment for staff and volunteers by establishing and maintaining open communications with all members of the team.

· Enter information into databases or software programs.

· Evaluate Information to Determine Compliance with Standards — Using relevant information to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.

· Processing Information — Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, information, or data.

· Documenting/Recording Information — Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form

· High School Diploma/GED \*Required

· Some college / Associates Degree \*Preferred

· Be able to obtain Pharmacy Technician license within 60 days of hire. \*Required

· Hold a valid and clear Oregon Pharmacy technician license. \*Required





*Position Specifics:*

Part Time at 20 hours per week.

_(Availability during clinic hours: Monday 1-5, Tuesday 4-8, Thursday, and Friday 8:30-12:30 required) _



*Compensation:*

$22.00-$26.00 Hourly DOE

Volunteers in Medicine offers a retirement with (employer match), and 8 paid Holidays annually.
