General Description Assist people supported with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop their maximum independence while incorporating agency Core Values. Model and mentor staff on behavioral health interventions and implementation of Behavior Support Plans, through active engagement with individuals during the course of their activities of daily living. Essential Functions * Provide assistance and informed decision making to enable individuals to accomplish activities of daily living including: personal care; dietary needs; health maintenance; appointments; community activities; and relationship facilitation. * Support the delivery of effective behavioral services through 'hands on' modeling, coaching, and staff training. * Participate in meetings and trainings that support the development of effective behavioral interventions. * Mentor staff and support accurate behavioral data collection and organization of data. * Provide QBS Safety Care Training and support to staff * Provide crisis intervention support as needed. * Balance a work schedule at multiple locations. Demonstrate availability and flexibility to work all shifts, due to behavioral health needs. * Model and maintain a positive, supportive, productive team and work environment. * Promote social opportunities and community inclusion for the individuals. * Encourage independence and natural support by providing quality decision-making opportunities. * Promote appropriate communication and interactions consistent with company values and with individuals supported in the home and community. * Follow all care plans attending to individual's well-being, reporting any concerns to nurse or management. * Objectively monitor; report and document individuals status, including implementing care plans and goals. Skills and Abilities * Maintain certification in QBS Safety Care Training. * Functional understanding of behavior principles including; reinforcement, shaping, ABC's, etc. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain behavior principles to staff. * Ability to support individuals exhibiting significant behavior challenges; consistently modeling positive behavior support practices. General Requirements * Bachelor's degree in psychology, behavioral analysis, special education or a related field. * Minimum 2 years' experience implementing and providing training with Behavior Support Plans, and Crisis Prevention and Intervention Techniques. * Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Direct Support Professional.
