Summary Set up, operate, and tend to equipment that heats, mixes, blends, and/or processes ingredients in the manufacturing of food products by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Mix, measure, and weigh ingredients
• Set up and operate equipment that mixes or blends ingredients used in the manufacturing of food products.
• Determine mixing sequences based on knowledge of temperature effects and the solubility of specific ingredients.
• Place products on carts to transfer them to the next stage of processing.
• Fill kettles, tanks or pots, with ingredients by opening valves, starting pumps or directly by hand using pipettes or cups.
• Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Marks materials with identifying information.
• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
• Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Uses computer to enter and maintain inventory records.
• Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
• Operate forklift and other conveyance equipment.
• Reports food safety issues to the Production Manager or Operations Director.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read two and three syllable words. Recognize similarities and differences between words and a series of numbers. Ability to read formulas and to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills
Perform to addition and subtraction of two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
Perform these operations using units of American money and metric weight measurement, and volume.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must be able to obtain OSHA required Forklift Certification

The employee is frequently required to walk (3-6 hours per day); climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds (22.6 kgs.) without assistance and move up to 600-pound (272 kgs.) drums using appropriate equipment, e.g., power floor jack, drum dolly, and/or forklift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to food-grade fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic (cleaning agents) chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Working in the warehouse may, on occasion, expose this individual to non-hazardous fumes, and noise from equipment such as forklifts and air compressor.
Working in the production rooms may expose this individual to noise from blenders, mixers, pumps, and forklifts.
