Athletic Trainer, Full-Time - School Based (Lawson, MO)

Attendance at Athletic events - The Athletic Trainer will be present for athletic practices, competitions, and/or tournaments. To cover all home scheduled events/games in each sport throughout the school year (high school and middle school events held at the high school campus) and any special events agreed upon by the athletic director and athletic trainer. Coverage to include all high school varsity football games, both home and away. Providing health care information to and counseling athletes while at the athletic event. Provide on-sit medical coverage and emergency care during athletic events and practices. Attending to any injuries sustained by students as a result of the student's participation in an athletic event. Assess athletes' injuries and medical conditions to determine the appropriate course of action. Conducting initial assessments of athlete's injury or illness and formulate an impression of the injury or illness to facilitate next steps needed for emergency care and follow-up referrals to a physician for definitive diagnosis and treatments if necessary. Administering first aid and emergency care for acute athletic injuries and illnesses. Scheduling with the physician within 24-48 hours (2 business days), any injuries that require attention. Providing on-site injury checks each week during competitive seasons. Performing injury prevention measures to minimize the risk of injury during play. Develop and implement customized rehabilitation and conditioning programs for injured athletes to facilitate recovery and prevent re-injury. Educate athletes, coaches, and staff on injury prevention techniques, proper exercise techniques, and nutrition strategies. Conduct regular assessments of athletes' physical fitness and performance to track progress and identify areas of improvement. Collaborate with coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans for athletes. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of injuries, treatments, and progress. Stay up to date on the latest research, trends, and best practices in sports medicine and athletic training. Adhere to all relevant regulations, guidelines, and ethical standards governing athletic training and healthcare practice. Participate in professional development activities, such as workshops, conferences, and continuing education courses.
