Assistant Team Lead

Under the direction of the Creamery Supervisor, t he Aged Cheese Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the Aged cheese production, packaging, processes, and staff . The Aged Cheese Team Lead ensures all employees follow all company procedures, GMPs, Safety, Quality, and Sanitation programs.

Duties include working with and training all personnel to operate manufacturing and packaging equipment, as well as oversees all procedures involved in the Aged Cheese production area. The Aged Cheese Team Lead ensures sure all employees follow all procedures, GMPs, Safety, and Quality plans, along with ensures all employees are productive and competent in their respective roles. This position also requires leading the team by monitoring tasks, ensuring the proper fulfillment of all required paperwork, swabbing of equipment, ensuring correct product specifications, and packaging, and identifying and reporting all potentially non-conforming product and equipment to Supervisor and the Quality Assurance Department.

Wages: Starting at $23.18 an hour

Hours: 6am-2:30pm

Required Qualifications & Experiences

  • 18 years or older .


  • Basic computer skills.


  • Ability to read, write, comprehend , follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills


Preferred Qualifications & Experiences

  • 1+ years of continuous prior experience in any industry .


  • Self-Reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision .


  • Able to trouble shoot mechanical problems .


  • Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team .


  • Ability to follow manufacturer's specifications and directions .


  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment .


  • Work in cold and/or hot temperatures throughout the day .


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Assists with the start-up of Aged Cheese production daily.


  • Coordinates daily tasks for production and packaging staff.


  • Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators.


  • Acts as a primary trainer for Aged Cheese staff.


  • Assists in coordinating the daily production and receiving schedule.


  • Assists with the receiving of milk.


  • Communicates with front end and back end for changes in production.


  • Communicates with front end and back end on quality issues and weights.


  • Understands lab and production tests, i.e. butter fat, TA, and moisture.


  • Helps to create new SOPs and ensures compliance to existing SOPs.


  • Reviews weights and adjusts to yield results.


  • Makes sure all product is handled in a sanitary manner.


  • Follows all Sanitation SOPs, Pre-ops, Post-ops , and chemical usage plans.


  • Finalizes all make sheets with Team Lead and other staff.


  • Makes sure all sheets are recorded properly in ERP system.


  • Files all paperwork pertinent to production.


  • Handles maintenance on all production machines.


  • Helps to facilitate and plan monthly departmental meeting .


  • Reports issues and progress to the Creamery Supervisor, Quality Assurance Manager, Creamery Manager or Creamery Supervisor.


  • Makes sure that the cleaning is completed, and work area is tidy before leaving.


  • Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators.


  • Ensure a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks.


  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs).


  • Follow all procedures, GMPs, Safety, Quality, and Sanitation plans.


  • Identify and report all potentially non-conforming product and equipment to Supervisor and the Quality Assurance Department.


  • Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule.


  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Physical Requirements

  • Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements .


  • Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment .


  • Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present .


  • Shift schedules that include days, nights, and weekends, some holidays and periodic overtime .
