MULTIPLE LOCATIONS The location of this position is currently in Anchorage. The position may be located in Anchorage or Juneau dependent upon the location of the most qualified candidate.
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for a Analyst/Programmer 2/3/4 Flex located in Anchorage or Juneau!
What you will be doing:
Join the Alaska Department of Fish and Game's Genetics Lab (GCL) and Mark, Tag, and Age Lab (MTAL) as an Analyst/Programmer dedicated to modernizing our critical lab software and databases. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and rewriting legacy software systems that are crucial to the management and conservation of Alaska's rich fisheries resources. The working conditions you can expect:
If filled in Anchorage, the position would be located at the Alaska Department of Fish & Game's (ADF&G) Gene Conservation Laboratory (GCL). If the position is filled in Juneau, it would be located at ADF&G headquarters or at the Mark, Tag, and Age Laboratory (MTAL) in the Mendenhall River Valley. All locations offer proximity to breathtaking outdoor activities and vibrant community life. You will have your own dedicated workspace, and you will collaborate closely with genetics and fisheries staff. Minimum Qualifications
Analyst/Programmer 2
One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of the experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer system user support specialty.
Substitution:
A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for all of the required experience. An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.
Special Note:
An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. Under this option, an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.
Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.
