Job Summary :
Under interim direct supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the nurse manager provides oversight of the ambulatory care nurses and f unctions as a clinical resource to ensure that medical services are delivered in a safe and efficient manner, addressing patient needs as expeditiously as possible. The nurse manager utilizes the nursing process to assess and evaluate care at the center. The nurse manager is an integral part of the health care team that collaborates with other health team members and the center ma nager to facilitate patient care. The nurse manager also ensures ancillary se rvices are provided as needed
Essential Functions:

  • Serves as a clinical team leader and resource to ambulatory care nurses and provides input of day-to-day clinical activities working closely with the center manager.
  • Provides oversight to the RN whom performs the duties under Employee Health related to team member vaccination follow ups, symptom outbreaks and notifications to key staff about quarantines
  • Provides oversight and management of Covid vaccine clinics, ensuring clinics are properly staffed. Maintains Covid vaccine inventory and orders Covid vaccines from the Health Department. Provides education to staff and patients regarding the Covid vaccines and keeps staff up to date on changes. Provides support as needed.
  • Conducts monthly nursing meetings to ensure all nurses stay up to date on all educational and organizational needs and changes. May host meetings more frequently depending on the needs of the nurses.
  • Reviews staffing model for nursing and nursing management and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement
  • Provides oversight and supervision of nurses by managing time sheets, approving leave requests, monitors attendance, monitors productivity during remote days, and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Oversees nursing needs for grants and ensures needs of the grants are being fulfilled.
  • Assists with creating, updating, and reviewing policies and procedures to ensure all are up-to-date and compliant with best practices.
  • Provides recommendation to center manager for administrative and corrective actions of Patient Service Representatives, Clinical Medical Assistants and Medical Interpreters.
  • Provides clinical training to medical assistants, and supervises competency evaluations.
  • Provides direct nursing care to patients, including performing assessments, nursing procedures, and assistance with procedures.
  • Provides health teaching and counseling to patients and families. This may include communication of test results, medication changes, etc.
  • Assesses patient requests for same day services, and works with Providers and Center Manager to ensure that patient needs are addressed appropriately.
  • Expedites patient flow through the implementation of standing orders or policies for medication refills, referrals, and immunizations. Ensures that clinical medical assistants are familiar with standing order protocols and follow them appropriately.
  • Participates in the immunizations process, including inventory and record keeping. Ensures that vaccines are stored properly. Oversees immunization administration process, and educates staff regarding proper technique and current recommendations. Has knowledge of the Vaccines For Children program and assists with compliance.
  • Oversees laboratory services, including review of quality control, oversight of inventory and record keeping. Ensures that supplies are stored properly. Supervises specimen collection process and in-house testing, and educates staff regarding proper technique and current recommendations.
  • Participates in the maintenance of medication and medical supply inventory, including monthly expiration process.
  • Assists with providing ongoing clinical education, including competency testing and training consistent with GBMS needs, goals, and objectives.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the EMR and serves as a clinical resource.

Supervisory Role : Yes. Nurses.
Nonessential Functions:
  • Participates in team/staff meetings; attends in service meetings and applicable workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nursing License in the State of Maryland.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or an equivalent field of study preferred.
  • Insurability (malpractice)
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)

Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the Director of Risk Management’s regular performance evaluation.

Travel
Must be able to drive between Greater Baden Medical Services, Inc. locations as required.
