<p> <strong>Job Title:</strong> Adjunct Instructor of Piano</p> <p> <strong>Campus Location:</strong> Sevier County Campus (<em>Employees are assigned to a "home" location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)</em></p> <p> <strong>Job Purpose: </strong>The overall purpose of the Adjunct Instructor of Music is to provide instruction in individual piano lessons, class piano, and/or ear training.</p> <p> <strong>Essential Job Functions:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Teach individual piano lessons for 1 credit and 2 credit sections for both majors and non-majors (not to exceed the contact hour limit per semester).</li> <li>Teach class piano 1 and/or 2 for majors and non-majors.</li> <li>Additional course assignments in Ear Training or Intro to Music is possible on an as needed basis and pending specific qualifications. </li> <li>Prepare course syllabi, course materials, evaluate student learning and maintain class records </li> <li>Work with other music faculty in scheduling juries and auditions. </li> <li>May perform other duties as assigned. </li> </ul> <p> <strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Music or equivalent from an accredited institution.<br> </li> <li>Demonstrated proficiency in piano pedagogy.<br> </li> <li>Experience with piano performance or collaborative piano.<br> </li> <li>Evidence of demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the comprehensive community college philosophy. <br> </li> </ul> <p> <strong>Behavioral Core Competencies:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Teaching competence in the field of music with strong communication skills with students and faculty.<br> </li> <li>Empowers and motivates students to learn effectively.<br> </li> <li>Strong leadership and motivational skills are essential.<br> </li> <li>Attends all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean or Department Chair.<br> </li> <li>Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.<br> </li> <li>Participates in departmental and college committees; and provides outreach service to the community.<br> </li> <li>Works effectively with other faculty and administrators within the department, the division, and the college to provide well-developed courses and programs of study.<br> </li> <li>Is a team player and contributes to the department and the division with new ideas and approaches, and uses professional development opportunities to expand instructional vision.<br> </li> </ul> <p> <strong>Leadership & Supervisory: </strong>This position has no supervisory responsibilities, but is expected to participate as part of a team in conjunction with other faculty and as a member of the Humanities division.</p> <p> <strong>Environment & Working Conditions: </strong>Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations, well lit, and free from loud noises and unnecessary interruptions.
