POSITION SUMMARY:
The YouthActivities Staffmember provides high quality recreational experiences forschool aged children that focus on the YMCA core values: caring, honestly,responsibility, respect, and faith within youth programs at the Mankato FamilyYMCA. Work schedule is flexible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist the YouthActivities Director and Lead Staff with the developing, planning, supervising,and implementing curriculum and program activities.
2. Organize and leada variety of activities appropriate for school age children. Activities may include arts and crafts,indoor and outdoor games, enrichment activities, etc.
3. Participate inall training activities which are provided to support program policies andprocedures, personal growth, and skill development.
4. Make ongoingsystematic observations and evaluations of each child.
5. Maintain accurateprogram records including incident reports, daily rosters, and attendancerecords.
6. Ensure that the classroomsite is kept clean and organized.
7. Enforceappropriate safety measures and positive behavior intervention methods byobserving, identifying, and responding to participant's behavior.
8. Assist in thepromotion of the program including calendars, newsletters, and other forms ofcommunication with parents.
9. Maintain positiverelations with parents and other staff. Model relationship-buildingskills in all interactions.
10. Be a supportive leader to each individual youth to promote improvedself-image and good group relationships.
11. Know, enforce, and follow all safety proceduresand emergency action plans associated with the YMCA and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to beingresponsible for participants safety and their whereabouts at all times.
12. Follow all program policy andprocedures including Child Abuse Prevention Policies.
13. Perform all other duties as assignedby the Youth Activities Director

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Never convicted of any child abuseincluding sexual abuse.
2. Experience and/oreducation in child development, education, human relations, communication, orrecreational programs
3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 60 days of hire (YMCA provided)
4. Ability to plan, lead,organize, and implement school age recreation programs.
5. Strong communication (both written and verbal)skills with the ability to be flexible and quickly adapt.
6. Ability andwillingness to work with people of diverse populations
7. Commitment and passion to working withchildren
8. Self-motivated and ability tomulti-task
PHYSICALDEMANDS
Sufficient strength,agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise programactivities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending uponthe programs). Perform all physical aspects of the position, includingwalking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at atime. The ability to calmly and effectively react in an emergency situation.
