ATHLETIC TRAINER

Overview:

The Athletic Trainer (AT) in the Sports Medicine Outreach department is responsible for the prevention, assessment, immediate management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and conditions. The AT provides quality healthcare services to assigned schools and/or coverage sites. The AT is responsible for being engaged within the schools, sites, and communities, acting as an Ambassador for Baptist Health Care, Andrews Institute, and the Sports Medicine department, facilitating access and availability for all health care services. The AT plays an integral role in educating appropriate personnel (i.e., coaches, athletic directors, administrators, officials, etc.) on emergency preparedness, injury prevention, and best practices for the health, care, and well-being of student-athletes, spectators, and staff. The AT is responsible for effectively communicating with all members of the athletic health care team, Sports Medicine Outreach Leadership, and school/site personnel. The AT is responsible for promptly documenting, tracking, and reporting athletic injuries from assigned schools and sites. The AT assists Sports Medicine Outreach Leadership and the BHC/AI Marketing department with managing advertisements and promotional opportunities for the schools and/or coverage sites. The AT can provide oversight of BHC-approved students from athletic training and/or other healthcare-related fields programs. The AT assists with departmental events, services, and/or activities (ex. preparticipation physical exams, concussion baseline testing, injury clinics, etc.).

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

• Bachelor or Master degree in Athletic Training.
• Current license in the State of Florida and/ or Alabama depending on what state you are assigned to work in as an Athletic Trainer.
• Current BOC Certification.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• Display knowledge of operations of Sports Medicine Outreach Program.
• Familiar with medical terminology in reference to Sports Medicine Outreach Program.
• Display excellent communication skills and customer service.
• Familiar with industry best practices and guidelines.
• Care and prevention of athletic injuries.
• Display knowledge of operations of physician networking and referral management.
• Comfort in evaluation skills and setting up plan of care.
• Problem solving and decision capabilities.
