We primarily serve low-income and justice-involved individuals who are seeking to change their life for the better. We achieve this by offering multiple levels of care along with medical services, evidence-based professional counseling, case management, housing assistance, employment assistance, and more.
Job Summary
As a Medical Assistant at our clinic, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team. You will be responsible for performing clinical and administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations and enhance patient experience. Your work will directly impact the efficiency of our services and the quality of care we deliver to our patients.
Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and prepare specimens for external testing.
  • Monitor and document patient progress and communicate findings to healthcare providers.
  • Manage patient records and ensure accurate and confidential documentation.
  • Assist with patient intake, including verifying insurance information and obtaining necessary consent forms.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and their families.
  • Provide compassionate and respectful care to patients, addressing their concerns and needs.
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, medication administration, and preventive care.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, including managing supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure cohesive and comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to stay current with medical and behavioral health practices.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Windows, basic email, Microsoft Word, timekeeping software, and basic computer navigational skills.
  • Ability to write professional correspondence and reports free from grammatical and spelling mistakes.
  • Active Medical Assistant (MA) certification preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret emails, letters, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Team player
  • High level of patience
  • Active CPR and First Aid certification required (may be provided by Axiom).
  • Active Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Negative TB Test result within past 12 months
Education and Experience
  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certificate or 1 year of BHT, MHT, MT, experience or equivalent.
  • Outpatient Clinic: 1 year (Preferred)
