Hawk Mtn Labs is currently seeking a degreed Metals Chemist with supervisory experience.

HawkMtn Labs (HML) is an Independent privately owned, Analytical Laboratory, located in the Hazleton, PA area near Interstates 81 and 80. HML's environmental laboratory resources are designed to provide high quality analysis of drinking water, groundwater, wastewater and solid waste characterization.

Our laboratories are fully equipped with state of the art technology capable of conducting low level evaluation of Volatile Organics (VOC), Semi-Volatile Organics (SVOC) and Metals Wet Chemistry methods; Pressurized Fluid extraction system for analysis of Semi-Vols, PCBs, Pesticides and Low level VOC Soil analysis.

DUTIES

  • Prepare and analyze samples according to approved test methods using GC, GCMS systems
  • Perform basic and complex instrument or equipment maintenance and repair as needed
  • Utilize LIMS functions including generating work lists, obtaining and updating job status and approval
  • Perform analytical standard preparation
  • Maintain all required documentation with accuracy and clarity
  • Read, understand and perform all applicable laboratory SOPs as written.
  • Perform initial and annual Demonstration of Capability.
  • Maintain familiarity with quality control measures and calculations required for applicable methods.
  • Follow all company Safety, Ethics and Quality practices.
  • Ability to perform advanced method development tasks including new test implementation
  • Completely familiar with the instrumentation, equipment and software in the laboratory
  • Completely familiar with all analytical techniques and protocols in their designated department.
  • Assist with client inquiries as needed.
  • Verify that all samples are extracted and /or analyzed within required hold times.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degreed Chemist, experienced in Organic Analysis in an Environmental Laboratory setting.
  • Working knowledge of GC, GCMS systems; EPA methodologies 8260;8270;8082;8081;9014;9020;9023;9071;624;625;608;1664;8015 for the analysis of Drinking Water, Wastewater, Solid & Hazardous Waste.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Supervisory Experience.
  • Familiarity of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems)
  • Detail Oriented with an emphasis on good quality procedures.
