Primary Purpose
Provide laboratory and clinical instruction for Associate Degree and Practical Nursing students; teach laboratory and clinical sessions; plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate clinical activities; develop instructional plans and materials; evaluate student progress; review and request new materials, equipment, and supplies; maintain records and prepare a variety of reports as requested.
Position Duties
Primary responsibilities include clinical, simulation, and lab instruction of nursing students in programs accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Additional duties include course planning, development, and evaluation. The Clinical/Lab Nursing Instructor will advise students, serve on committees, and participate in college activities such as professional development training. The Nursing Instructor will be responsible for continuing education required by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. The Clinical/Lab Nursing Instructor must meet all competency, health, and immunization requirements of all clinical agencies according to contractual agreements.
Position Requirements
A bachelor's degree in nursing and a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina is required. A master's degree in nursing or currently enrolled in a master's degree in nursing is preferred. Candidates must have two years of full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse. Preparation in teaching and learning principles, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, or willingness to seek continuing education as required by the NC Board of Nursing upon employment is required. Community college or post-secondary teaching experience is preferred. Good oral and written communication skills are required. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
