POSITION SUMMARY :
The Product Specialist works under the direction of the assigned Product Manager in support of product development activities. The position works in support of product development activities including research and documentation of product requirements, development of product technical documentation, development and implementation of product test plans, internal and client training programs, user manual documentation, support of alpha and beta product releases, and support for internal and external clients,
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in documenting and reviewing product requirements adhering to SCC standard for preparing the Statement of User Requirements.
  • Works closely with the Architect, Programmers, Product Manager, and Product Specialists to provide product education throughout the development cycle.
  • Works closely with the Architect, Programmers, and Business Analysts for the purpose of providing domain expertise as they develop the system requirements specifications.
  • Works under the direction of the Product Manager and Architect, to review client/prospect requirements, study feasibility, and document accepted Software Change Requests per SCC SOP.
  • Works with external and internal clients to provide accurate stakeholder request concepts for new functionality requests
  • Prepares Use Case Scenarios as defined by SCC in preparation for and support of vendor and QA product testing. Works closely with the vendor and QA testing teams during product validation to assure that the delivered product adheres to and meets the stated product requirements.
  • Performs and/or reviews hazard analysis
  • Writes, review, and/or approves test cases based on approved requirements or specifications
  • Writes Release Notes for each product release Reviews Product Change Control tasks verifying completeness and accuracy
  • Performs testing on each release and reports any anomalies or deficiencies found
  • Works closely with other product teams in developing or troubleshooting integration points between SoftTotalQC and other products
  • Works with the Technical Communications team in the development and review of user manuals and Release Notes
  • Facilitates product knowledge transfer to Implementation, Client Support, and Sales and Marketing, Education and Technical Communications staff through documentation. training, and client support tasks
  • Works closely with the RFP team to provide necessary information for Request for Proposal documents submitted by potential clients
  • Works with clients and other internal product teams in the review of potential risk to health events
  • Communicates with other internal product teams to review issues that could impact their products
  • Performs demonstrations of the application to prospective and existing clients and to other internal teams as requested
  • Participates at the annual Soft Network Users Group meeting by providing educational sessions to the group members
  • Reviews enhancements requested by external clients, internal clients, and the Special Interest Group,
  • Participates in the review of Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines
  • Submits ideas for enhancements to the product
  • Provides support for the product Beta site by conducting client education and customer support through the Beta implementation and go-live period.
  • Documents client issues and action plans.
  • Complies with all approved procedures, directives and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education Required:
Four year degree in the applicable healthcare related field. Relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the degree. Advanced degree in the applicable discipline, business, or computer science highly desirable.
Experience Required:
Broad experience and understanding of the applicable healthcare discipline essential. Working knowledge of the Quality Control as is relates to healthcare disciplines. Previous experience with computerized healthcare applications including specification of requirements, file building, and usage is highly desirable.

Travel Required:
Yes. Minimal travel is required as a rule. Possible travel to support of Beta site clients, to attend professional meeting, and infrequently in support of Sales activities.
