Description
The Maintenance Technician routinely performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and components to ensure the continued safe, efficient, and effective operations of equipment used in the facility. This position also assists with maintaining parts inventory, organizing, and maintaining the maintenance shop, as well as inspecting and diagnosing malfunctions and breakdowns and performs repairs. This position must be able to take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability and lifespan.
Work Schedule : 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM Sunday Night - Friday Morning
Responsibilities
  • Completes routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshoots maintenance issues on standardized equipment
  • Responds to production requests for immediate attention to production line breakdowns
  • Assists in maintaining the organization of the maintenance shop and adequate parts inventory
  • Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other departments, including production, warehouse, and quality, regarding the status of maintenance projects and needs
  • Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods
  • Ensures plant is maintained and in accordance with housekeeping policies and guidelines
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must have general computer skills, ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints and is capable of accurately distinguishing colors
  • Must maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed; with little, to no notice
  • Must be able to pass a forklift, boom lift, scissor lift, a respirator fit test
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Education and Experience
  • Two-year technical degree in maintenance related field or a combination of education experience.
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Technician preferred
  • Plastic extrusion experience preferred
  • Forklift and Scissor lift maintenance experience preferred
  • Basic electrical knowledge preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Working conditions in the role of a Maintenance Technician may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents

  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Talk and hear to coordinate and operate equipment

  • Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • Work in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, with dust, fumes, airborne particles

  • Handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 250 pounds.
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protection
  • Work at elevated heights of approximately 30 feet
