Simulation Technologist & Educator

The Simulation Technologist & Educator will report to and is responsible for assisting with facilitating and training Standardized Patients (SPs) and Standardized Technical Communicators (STCs) for human-based and manikin clinical simulation activities. Additionally, this position will assist in administrative and logistical functions including, but not limited to facilitating simulation activities, assisting with technology, and organization of supplies.
Primary Duties

  • Provides education and training specific to adult learners to facilitate human-based clinical simulation and manikin voice-over events.
  • Assist in orientation of new SP's including verbal and written feedback education.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge and skills of medical information, case scenarios, and physical exams pertinent to training and education.
  • Participates in mentoring activities that strengthen SP practice and skill sets.
  • Prepare simulation spaces for events.
  • Maintain set up documentation specific to event needs.
  • Assist in resetting after event completion, ensuring supplies are available for maintaining a clean environment.
  • Installs software and hardware upgrades, maintaining functionality of manikin components as directed by manufacturer support.
  • Understands the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers, screen-based simulation and full-body patient simulators.
  • Provide backup technical support for computer-based multimedia systems and their components, including operating digital and video cameras, monitors, LCD displays, and other equipment.
  • Maintains current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment, operation manuals, start-up sheets, and how to guides.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to faculty on capabilities and limitations of equipment and facilities to meet curriculum needs.
  • Maintains proficiency in existing and emerging simulation technologies, including basic theory, design, and implementation.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Associates degree in a health-related field, or higher.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in healthcare and/or simulation.
  • Knowledge of relevant trends and innovations in simulation-based education and methodology.
  • Ability to work independently, coordinate multiple tasks, good organizational skills, exhibit flexibility in work schedule and job tasks.
  • Desire to learn technology related to simulated equipment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, job contacts, and students.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Certified Health Simulation Educator (CHSE) or ability to obtain within two years of hire.
  • Basic Life Support Instructor - American Heart Association Certified or within 6 months of hire
Working Hours/Conditions
  • Afternoon/evening hours 11a-7p Tuesday - Saturday with a flex for Mondays if there are no simulated weekend events
  • Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.

Salary: $60,000/year
