MAIN FUNCTION:
Assists the radiologist in the performance of angiographic procedures and performs the duties of a staff radiologic technologist. Reports to the diagnostic radiology supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all staff radiologic technologist duties.
  • Assists the radiologist during special procedure i.e. angiography) with knowledge of the sequence of different steps required, handling of the instruments, (i.e. catheters, guidewires, needles).
  • Prepares the patient for special procedures.
  • Prepares different contrast media for different procedures.
  • Prepares and sets up sterile field and trays for the procedure.
  • Sets up injection rates, filming programs and exposure sequences, as directed by the radiologist.
  • Takes call on a rotating basis.
  • Is familiar with and demonstrates Quality in Action principles and participates in the process as appropriate.

EDUCATION:
Current NYS Radiologic Technologist License. ARRT Certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one-year experience in radiology.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work requires walking or standing in excess of 90% of the time. Work requires bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs. moving patients. Work requires pushing of beds, stretchers, and mobile x-ray equipment.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category I. Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
