Adjunct Faculty, Lecturer of Computer/Networking Technologies

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:
CMU Tech is seeking applications for a part-time Adjunct Faculty, Lecturer of Computer/Networking Technologies to teach online or in person courses. The ideal candidate will keep up with the latest IT trends and have a passion for sharing their knowledge with their students. This position is responsible for teaching students about the principles of technology and how to use basic information technology tools in their work and lives. This is being taught at a college level for both college and high school students.

Adjunct faculty at CMU are part-time employees who are hired on an as-needed basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and designs curriculum specific to the core competencies for various IT certificate programs and AAS. Teaches students in a competency-based format through lectures, demonstrations, and learning-centered instruction, both in person and online. Manages the learning environment by keeping accurate records, grading assignments, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing campus academic and attendance policies. Offers tutoring and assistance to IT Program students in need. Plans appropriate differentiation strategies to address individual learning needs and styles of urban adult students. Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment to determine grades. Models learning and behavior consistent with expectations for students. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties:

•Teach classes and instructs, conduct learning activities.

•Prepare lesson activities.

•Evaluate students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, and papers.

•Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.

•Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.

•Compile, administer, and grade examinations.

•Maintain cleanliness of class/labs area

•Maintain security of tools and equipment

•Maintain lab infrastructure as required.

Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in information technology or a computer science-related field.

Knowledge in networking infrastructure, operating systems, servers, and hardware installation, as well as a working knowledge of Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and Linux operating systems.

Minimum 2 years' experience in the IT field. Some experience teaching college-level IT classes or equivalent experience in the field.

Knowledge of Operating Systems:Microsoft® Windows 10, 11; Windows Server 2019/2022

Knowledge of Computer Hardware (equivalent to CompTIA A+) consistent to build and troubleshoot.

Knowledge of Networking (equivalent to CompTIA Networking + or Cisco Networking 1 consistent to build and troubleshoot.

Preferred Qualifications:

CompTIA: A+, Network+, Security+

Cisco Academy Instructor certification.

Salary: $600.00 - 850.00 per credit hour. Adjunct faculty are paid on a per credit hour basis, commensurate with education and experience.
