The Registered Nurse in Family Practice utilizes a comprehensive approach to nursing by conducting assessments, creating care plans, implementing interventions, and evaluating patient progress. They deliver healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.

  • Deliver and facilitate competent healthcare for patients and families within the practice area, ensuring adherence to established standards of care.
  • Ensure thorough and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • Provide health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
  • Act as a preceptor and support the professional development of other staff and healthcare students.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the quality of care and clinical outcomes.
  • Assist the Nursing Supervisor or coordinator in developing departmental standing orders.
  • Coordinate care for patients ranging from 0 to 150 years old.
  • Conduct telephone triage for both acute and chronic patient needs across all age groups.
  • Assist with in-office wound care and perform procedures such as lesion removal.
  • Offer in-office education to patients newly diagnosed with diabetes across all age groups.
  • Administer immunizations and medications to patients ranging from 0 to 150 years old.
