Qualification Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited professional nursing education program
  • Bachelor's degree of Science in Nursing from an accredited professional nursing education program, preferred
  • Valid Registered Nurse License from the Texas State Board of Nursing Valid Texas RN license or temporary TX RN license, should obtain permanent license within 90 days. Valid compact license acceptable according to current Board of Nursing requirements.
  • Current CPR and AED Certification
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification preferred but training provided
  • Certification in first aid, hearing, vision, scoliosis, acanthosis preferred but training provided
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in community health, school health, or other related fields
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered nurse preferred
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of the RN scope of practice as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Ability to demonstrate physical assessment and intervention skills
  • Proficient in using equipment and technology for the delivery of healthcare services
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff both verbally and in writing

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
