Oversees and manages daily operations of supply chain, staff, and maintenance of appropriate periodic automatic replacement (PAR) levels for items stocked in area/s assigned. Manages and maintains supply stock, as well as assists in documentation, as needed. Coordinates and maintains the supply system ensuring that it operates in a fiscally sound and efficient manner by managing supplies and equipment from acquisition to disposition. Ensures that essential medical supplies and equipment are readily available to support patient care and healthcare operations. Coordinates small program(s) with limited budget/impact. Trains new supply chain employees on departmental tasks and workflows and supports peer employees in issue identification and resolution. Takes on project assignments specific to improving supply chain workflows.Job Requirements:Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required Master's Degree: Preferred Five years' of experience within the operations or supply chain function within healthcare or related industry: Preferred Experience in materials management, inventory control, or a related field, preferably in a healthcare setting: Preferred One year leadership experience: Preferred Essential Functions: Provides direct supervision for supply chain front-line staff working within the healthcare facility. Oversees the scheduling and assigned tasks of staff. Handles the training and disciplining of departmental staff. Manages resolution report daily to ensure back orders and substitute items are identified, ordered and on-hand to meet supply demands. Coordinates all returned and recalled items in a timely manner and notifies user of back orders and works to identify alternative products. Participates and conducts periodic physical inventories. Initiates and coordinates supply return requests and ensures items are ready for pickup and return. Manages physical resolution of recalls and expired products. Oversees purchase orders (POs) generated to facilitate all inventory needs adhering to patient volume and developing needs. Produces statistical reports as requested. Supports process improvement solutions to optimize inventory, system, and effective cost objectives. Acts as communication liaison between supply chain and all departments. Handles perpetual inventory tool management. Performs routine par level analysis and recommendations for adjustments. Supports capital requests for purchase orders and follows up on orders as needed. Reconciles with distributors/suppliers at regular intervals. Meets with customers to ensure needs are met. Makes decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group such as coordinating work activities, monitoring adherence to schedules and reporting resource issues. Understands when product changes are needed and when projects are initiated. Ensures updates on new procedures, or physician changes, are implemented. Works with management and others to ensure all needed activities are completed. Ensures orders arrive and follows up to ensure departments have necessary supply items. Ensures that received items meet quality and safety standards. Collaborates with physicians and leadership to address any quality issues. Maintains accurate records of all inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, and returns. Generates reports to analyze inventory levels and consumption patterns. Assists with data entry into the materials management software. Communicates with suppliers to place orders, track deliveries, and resolve issues. Identifies opportunities for supplier consolidation or improved contracts. Collaborates with the disaster preparedness team to ensure the availability of essential supplies in case of emergencies. Maintains a contingency stock of critical items for unexpected situations. Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including infection control protocols. Implements safety measures in handling, storing, and distributing hazardous materials. Supports product recall requirements to ensure patient safety. Trains hospital staff on proper inventory management practices. Stays updated on industry best practices and participate in relevant training as needed. Trains new supply chain staff on tasks and workflows within the department. Takes on project assignments specific to improving supply chain workflows. Supervises all activities associated with the execution product conversions and transitions within the healthcare environment. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
