UnityPoint Health Trinity is a regional integrated health care delivery system including four full-service hospitals in Rock Island and Moline, Illinois and Bettendorf and Muscatine, Iowa. The integrated services available at Trinity Muscatine offer a seamless continuum of care between physician clinics, hospital and home care services. The hospital campus is home to emergency, orthopedic services, physician clinics, inpatient and outpatient diagnostic care and treatment, home health, public health, and occupational medicine. In addition, it is home to Robert Young Center, the regions only Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. The Center provides a full continuum of behavioral health services including inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance use disorder services.

Robert Young Center was the first Comprehensive Community Mental Health Centers (CMHC) in Illinois as well as the first hospital-based CMHC in either Illinois or Iowa. Despite the national movement toward integration of behavioral health services and primary health care, it is extremely rare to come across hospitals that include a community mental health center as part of its corporate configuration (less than 1%). Throughout its history, Robert Young Center has been a major contributor to quality mental health services in the Quad City and Muscatine regions.

Responsibilities:

Work directly with collaborating Physicians and under the supervision of the Director of Outpatient Services of the Robert Young Center for Community Mental Health, practices autonomously and in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage clients psychiatric illnesses.

  • Provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management and brief psychotherapy.
  • Provides diagnostic, prescriptive pharmacological treatments and follow-up medication management to patients
  • Orders lab work, if necessary and reviews the lab reports
  • Treats crisis situations and emergencies, as needed including suicide lethality assessments.
  • May provide on call crisis services as part of Mobile Crisis Team, an outpatient mental health service
  • Perform psychiatric hospital consults when requested within the 24-hour response time frame
  • Synthesizes collected data to formulate clinical decisions regarding diagnoses, interventions and outcomes for patients
  • Documents and maintains accurate records, including medication records, according to established policies and procedures
  • Serves as a consistent point of contact for psychiatric medical concerns for community agencies, physician offices, schools, pharmacies, etc.
  • Provides consultation to internal staff regarding medical questions such as explaining medications
  • Demonstrates expertise in the interpretations of biopsychosocial data regarding client status and assumes accountability and responsibility for interventions prescribed
Qualifications:
  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry
  • Hold an unrestricted medical license in the state of Illinois and Iowa
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the Physicians field of practice
  • Eligible to work in the United States
