SUMMARY OF POSITION:



Registered Nurses in the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to a designated group of patients. The RNs combine high-tech integrated care with a special level of care and compassion. The staff of the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit (NCCU) have a unique opportunity to provide specialized care to primarily intensive and intermediate care patients. Our integrated unit facilitates the ability of patients to possibly remain in the same room during their hospital stay and receive specialized neuroscience nursing care. This integrated model promotes a continuity of care and familiarity between patients, families and nurses. Our Neuroscience team of physicians, RNs, patients and family work to formulate an individual plan upon admission on this 31 bed unit. This plan is continually updated as the patients condition changes and we are always planning for discharge.

RITICAL CARE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY:



Nurses applying for this position will be eligible for enrollment in a 12 month fellowship program following the orientation period. Inclusion in the fellowship will be based on an assessment of the educational and developmental needs of the individual registered nurse. This exciting opportunity will allow nurses to gain knowledge to be proficient and confident delivering quality care for high acuity patients. The fellowship includes didactic learning, classroom lectures and an educational pathway directed toward certification preparation. In addition to this opportunity, every nurse will be paired with a preceptor to help aid the learning process with critical care education and clinical experts throughout their clinical orientation.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



Experience in a Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit


Two years of medical/surgical/telemetry experience in an acute care setting



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Able to sit occasionally; stand constantly; walk frequently.


Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally.


Able to push/pull 0-20 lbs frequently; 21-75 lbs occasionally.


Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.


Able to use hand for simple/firm grasping.
