HEALTH SAFETY SECURITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DIRECTOR SUMMARY OF POSITION : The Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Director will be responsible for Process Safety Management (PSM) for the site. The HSSE Director will provide technical expertise for the facility staff to properly maintain systems for compliance, manage site security plan, and emergency response policies to ensure the safety and security of all employees and the integrity of the safety programs. This role also champions a culture of Process Safety excellence at Cornerstone Chemical Company. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES : The Director of HSSE will manage the Environmental Manager, Environmental Engineers, Security/ERT Chief, Safety Lead/IH, Contracted Security, Shift Safety Specialists (Paramedics). MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES : Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures. Collaborates with Medical Department to ensure compliance with medical treatments, injury updates, and paramedic resources for support. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules. Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting. Champion safety loss prevention program. Ensure site wide compliance with Process Safety Management regulations and internal organizational PSM standards. Coaching, developing, and evaluating performance of facility-based resources identified as compliance standards owners in areas of risk and compliance decision-making, management system development/improvement, and project management. Challenging and coaching facility-based resources on current process safety culture, commitment, ownership, risk tolerance, practices, and conditions. Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems. Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards. Reviews and reports on monthly monitoring of key metrics related to process safety performance. Supervise the application of Process Safety elements as required during project development stages. Oversee performance of risk analysis and coach others on the use of risk analysis techniques including HAZOP, LOPA, What-If, FMEA, Procedural PHA, Risk Profiling, Facility Sitings and other related risk analysis methods. Perform audit and gap analysis of process safety management systems and execute risk mitigation corrective actions as required. Verify operating units(s) and department Process Safety information is accurate and represent current “as-built” state. If P&IDs, equipment information, and information contained in the process safety library, work with engineering to update. Review incident investigation, approve Root Cause Analysis reports and ensure action items are driven to closure. Fluent in managing and evaluating the applicability of technical safety/risk studies. Understand process hazards, failure mechanisms, and safeguards in accordance with the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) guidelines. Be able to manage different simultaneous efforts, prioritize on work with most business impact, and eliminate non-value-added work. Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations. Reviews accident and incident reports. Extensive experience in both process and Organizational Management of Change processes and overseeing the effective implementation in accordance with documented procedures. Be company representative in community regarding safety, environmental, and security. KEY SKILLS : Be a champion of change. Be able to influence behaviors. Be able to present data, KPIs, etc., in meetings with upper management. Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Innovative and results oriented, able to meet objectives despite obstacles. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : At least 10 years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections. Ability to wear PPE (steel toed shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, etc.). EDUCATION : Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
