PeaceHealth is look for a Surgical Technologist - Cardiac for a Part Time, 0.50 FTE, Day position.

Hourly compensation is $30.09 - $45.17, hiring rate dependent on qualifications, professional experience, work location, and/or terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.

In Cardiac Surgery (CVOR), uses a variety of specialized equipment to assist the physician in the performance of invasive procedures resulting in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and peripheral vascular disease.

Essential Functions

  • Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.

  • Understands and applies the principles of asepsis. Establishes and maintains sterile field and assures team maintains sterile environment.

  • Assists in preparation and moving of patients.

  • Assists physician in performing invasive procedures.

  • Scrubs in for handling guide wires, catheter, flushing catheters, and other scrub duties as assigned.

  • Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.

  • Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.

  • Performs pre-procedural patient care activities.

  • Monitors and records patient’s condition and procedures’ progress.

  • Retrieves and reviews patient data.

  • Operates and maintains clinical equipment.

  • Participates in all safety initiatives.

  • Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Accredited Program Preferred: Surgical Technology. or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist

Experience

  • Required: 2+ years of CVOR surgical technologist experience

  • Required: 2+ years of previous experience working in a hospital setting

  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Accredited Surgical Technology Program preferred or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist.

  • Required: Surgical Technician - Washington.

  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support.

  • Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist.

ST JOSEPH’S PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires moderate physical exertion at least 66% of the time.

  • Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or less.

  • Work requires frequent exposure to skin or lung irritants; extreme cold or heat; sharp instruments such as kitchen knives, scalpels, etc.; or dangerous equipment; reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more.

  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration and attention to detail (34-65% of work time).
