Collaborates with non-traditional users of cyberinfrastructure, gathers user requirements and ensures that solutions will advance the state-of-the art research. Has a thorough knowledge of cyberinfrastructure, software engineering, databases, networking, application programming, and web and software applications. Strong communication and technical and scientific writing skills. Responsibilities Serve as the primary SCI relationship manager for a portfolio of collaborations with academic units. Maintain strong relationships with key liaisons in each unit. Develop a strong knowledge the SCI faculty base and research foci—including their research interests and expertise—and drive relationship development with colleges and departments with shared interests in scientific computing and data science and visualization, broadly speaking. Identify collaboration objectives or initiatives that would benefit from partnerships with SCI . Proactively develop strategies, identify opportunities to raise awareness of the SCI with colleges and departments, and encourage collaboration with SCI . Develops a plan for identifying, engaging, and maintaining mutually beneficial collaborations. Develops and delivers presentations demonstrating the value proposition of potential partnership opportunities with SCI Directs the due diligence process when evaluating potential partners and determining scopes of work, grant opportunities, etc. Develops messaging or talking points used in partnership-related communications. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, staff management, and effective communications skills required. Preferences Requires a bachelor’s degree in an area of specialty supporting the research enterprise or equivalency and 5 years of experience in an area of expertise supporting research. Requires the ability to successfully interact with all levels of government, academic and corporate researchers. Prefer outstanding facilitation, communication, technical and scientific writing skills and ability to engage faculty, staff and students who may not be familiar with advanced cyberinfrastructure (computing and data) tools and techniques. Prefer a master’s degree in an area of specialty supporting the research enterprise or 10 years of experience in an area of expertise supporting research. Potential areas of expertise supporting research include: supercomputing, high performance computing, data science, scientific visualization, software engineering (various programming languages including, but not limited to, C#, C++, R, Python, Java, Java Script, etc.), networking, cloud computing, full stack development, cybersecurity, Scrum, Agile, database tools, SQL server, Linux server, technical and scientific writing, documentation, etc. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
