Certification Details Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Job Details A large system in Nebraska/Iowa are looking for Night PCU RN's. 12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed. 2 years of unit experience. Job Requirements 2 years of unit experience. BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications. Looking for someone who is flexible and willing to learn as well as take feedback along the way. A nurse on this unit is successful if they are a team player, are flexible and adaptable, and have good communication skills. Schedule Information Night shifts available. Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1830, 1830-0630 / Smart Square online scheduling. Weekend Requirements: Every third. Holiday Requirements: Rotating with perm staff. Floating Requirements: Yes, to MedSurg or to ICU to take PCU acuity patients. Unit Specific Information Beds: 40 beds with average daily census of 24. Ratios: 1:4-5 both days and nights. Are RNs required to titrate drips? : Yes. Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin. Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? : Yes. Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? : Yes, 1:12. RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides troubleshoot? : High flow. Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? : RNs must read and interpret. How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? : 1 week. Additional Notes: Overhead lifts in half the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner, Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications. Additional Details Department: PCU. Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults, Cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, renal failure. Different cultural populations are served on this unit- primarily Hispanic and Somalian.
