Certification Details Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred Job Details Facility in Eastern Nebraska is looking for several traveling Med-Surg nurses. The hospital is looking for both day and night shift coverage. The shift will be twelve hours, 13-26 Week Contacts, 36-48 hour guarantee's. Job Requirements ACLS Preferred, BLS; Department: Med Tele / Ortho RN - 4th Floor North & South Schedule Information Shifts: 0630-1900, 1830-0700 // Travelers will be scheduled. Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed Unit Specific Information Department: Med Tele / Ortho RN - 4th Floor North & South Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 Are RN's required to titrate drips? : Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? : Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? : 2 days Additional Details of Beds: 55 Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive Are RN's required to titrate drips? : Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? : Yes Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? : Yes- 1:10-20 Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? : Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided? : RNs: Navy Blue How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? : 2 days Additional Notes: Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness, This unit typically has multiple discharges and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the busyness of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first. They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmese Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
