Position Summary:

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for accounts receivable and payable tasks. The position is a process focused role that will promote and maintain efficient, effective, and standardized functions that support organizational programs and departments. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for ensuring accuracy in each of these processes and for resolving inquiries and concerns encountered in the day-to-day operations of the department. The position is required to handle and maintain confidential information for key agency operations and functions.

Day in the life : In a typical day, the Accounting Specialist can expect to...

  • Accounts Receivable: Maintains accounts receivable files, records, and customer accounts.
  • Accounts Payable: Processes high volume of invoices including utilities for several locations, expense reports, and purchase orders using established procedures with the accounting system and automated accounts payable software.
  • Account Reconciliation: Perform customer account reconciliation monthly. Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
  • Administrative Duties: Assists with various administrative reports and duties in the Finance Department.

Prior Experience & Education:

  • Associate's Degree in a related field or 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience with Great Plains and DocuPhase preferred.
