Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant - Long Term Care
Location: Edison, NJ
Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm (8 hours/day)
Duration: 13-week contract (extendable)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide direct patient care in a long-term care setting. Under the supervision of an RN, the CNA will assist with various patient care tasks, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all assigned patients. This role involves working as part of a healthcare team to meet established care outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide hygiene and comfort care to patients, including bathing, toileting, oral care, incontinent care, and bed making.
  • Take and document vital signs, reporting results to the RN.
  • Perform glucose finger sticks and collect specimens, such as stool, urine, and sputum.
  • Record patient weights and monitor intake and output, notifying the RN of any concerns.
  • Ensure a safe environment by promptly responding to patient call lights and reporting any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Act as a patient sitter when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in patient rooms and the nursing unit.
  • Deliver care tailored to the specific needs of the patient population (age, culture, impairment), communicating effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.

Work Schedule:
  • Shifts: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
  • Holiday Requirement: 4 out of 6 major holidays.
  • On-Call Requirement: None.
  • Float Requirement: Yes.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in long-term care (LTC), short-term acute rehabilitation (SAR), emergency response units (ERU), and ventilator care.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification:
    • Current CNA certification.
    • Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
    • Nursing students enrolled in a BSN program who have successfully completed fundamentals of nursing courses are also encouraged to apply.
