About The Job

The RHEL Network Filesystems development team is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer with Linux kernel NFS development experience to expand our engineering team. Our team maintains the NFS, CIFS, and associated kernel sub-systems and tools within Red Hat.

In this role, you’ll be contributing as the primary knfsd in-kernel NFS server maintainer, although the work will cover all aspects of NFS. The job will require regular interaction with other team members in relation to the userland and client parts of NFS, as well as other teams such as QE, docs, and support.

The work will comprise a mix of new feature development work, along with the opportunity to influence the direction of the wider team, as well as fixing bugs in a timely manner as they are reported by customers and partners.

What You'll Do

Lead the kNFSd server development and maintenance within the team Contribute to upstream kernel development through our “upstream first” policy Work on diagnosing and fixing bugs in a timely manner Working with customers where necessary to resolve difficult issues Help to plan and fulfill new feature development work

What You'll Bring

Existing contributions in one or more areas of linux kernel development Experience in networking and/or filesystems An ability to prioritise multiple tasks based on importance A proactive approach to working with multiple teams A willingness to get involved in standards development work (IETF) from time to time Experience in diagnosing and fixing linux kernel bugs A passion for writing and maintaining reliable code

The Following Will Be Considered a Plus

Experience with NFS protocols Participation in upstream NFS development

The salary range for this position is $157,750.00 - $260,200.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
