Title: Analyst I, IT Security
Under general supervision, helps identify and prevent cyber threats to the DeKalb County School District by actively monitoring and maintaining several security-related systems such as reviewing security alerts, anti-virus, patching, vulnerability scanning, and related systems. The Security Analyst works closely with the Director of Information and Network Security to create and implement IT security plans and procedures to continually enhance the district's cyber security posture.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are representative of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Monitors and improves the district's security posture while preventing, detecting, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents
• Daily monitoring of security tools to protect sensitive information and systems (anti-virus, patching, firewalls, data encryption, SIEM, email protection, etc.
• Assists with the development and implementation of security standards and best practices for the district
• Utilizes monitoring tools to receive alerts of potential threats and determines the severity
• Monitors district network for security breaches and investigates violations
• Assists IT technicians and end users with IT-related security issues
• Develops an understanding of IT audits and controls such as SOX, PCI, HIPAA, SEC, FTC, etc.
• Stays abreast of current IT security trends and news
• Assists with development and security training for district stakeholders
• Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate degree or equivalent completed college coursework in Information Technology or closely related field from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting IT-related services required.
• Minimum one (1) year providing IT security-related services preferred.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certification preferred.
• CISSP, CISM, CEH, and GSEC certification preferred.
