Driver Title: Driver/Structural Steel Worker Employment Status: Full time Rank: N/A Salary: $13-17/hour Reports to: Production Manager, Shop Foreman Supervises: N/A Location: Lancaster, California Status: Non-Exempt Job Summary: This is a flexible position that calls for applicants willing and able to do a variety of things. The main responsibility is to drive small steel loads to job sites throughout California. The person filling this position will sometimes be a point of contact with McWhirter Steels clients and is therefore expected to act in a professional and friendly way that ensures a good image is set forth for McWhirter Steel. When not driving, the person fulfilling this position is expected to add significant value to the shops production process. Therefore, applicants should have knowledge and skills related to the structural steel fabrication industry such as machine operation, maintenance, fork-lift operation, welding, reading blueprints, grinding, operating a torch, etc. At least one of these skills, a current and clean drivers license and an overall good attitude is required to be deemed a qualified applicant for this position. Major Duties:

  • Driving small loads
  • Maintenance on all McWhirter Steel Vehicles
  • Ensuring trucks are properly/safely loaded
  • Tasks associated with Steel Fabrication
  • Physical Labor Qualifications: To fulfill this position at McWhirter Steel, prospects must:
  • Have at least 1 skill associated with steel fabrication
  • Have a current and clean drivers license
  • Have a positive, friendly attitude
  • Be dependable and trustworthy
  • Be knowledgeable of the different steel shapes and sizes Our Services Design Assist/Build We will work closely with our engineers or yours to help bring your project to life. BIM Modeling McWhirter Steel detailers use state of the art software technology to provide accurate drawings and 3D modeling for our clients. Steel Fabrication We are very diverse and can handle fabrication projects from the smallest level to mid rise buildings. Erection McWhirter Steel was a large union erector for many years and has had over 70 union ironworkers working throughout California. Project Management We often credit our project success to our highly systematic and well-equipped shop. Complex Coating McWhirter Steel's team of experienced painters and NACE certified inspectors. Steel Processing Our shop is home to a fully automated beam line that can layout, cut, drill, and cope any steel member. Share Us
