Overview:

NeuroPsych Hospital of Mishawaka is looking for an Accountant to perform general cost accounting, payroll functions, maintain accounting records, and other related duties in daily administration of accounting department. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. Assists the Accounts Payable Representative, assists with Payroll and assists Business Office with variety of tasks.

Responsibilities:
Assists the Accounts Payable Representative and assists with Payroll in all their daily functions, acting as the 1st backup for each of these positions.
Maintains general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, accounts analysis and reconciliation, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts.
Maintains payroll to include maintenance of records, processing paychecks, computation of federal and state payroll liability.
Interfaces with outside computer service for accounting and management data and initiates modifications/enhancements to computerized systems.
Maintains accounting records for fixed assets.
Assists outside auditors at year-end to include preparing schedules, invoices, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.
Performs accounts payable duties such as verifying all invoices for payment, ensuring expenditures are charged to appropriate accounts.
Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material. Updates records as necessary.
Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports.
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
Analyze and review budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding, contracts, and grants.
Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors and clients
Resolve accounting discrepancies.
Recommend, develop and maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.
Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company's automated financial systems.
Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
Assures that appropriate safety precautions are followed.
Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality. Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or oral disclosures.
Displays concern and initiative. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.

Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy.
Qualifications:
B.A. in Accounting required
CPA preferred
2-5+ years of accounting experiences
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
Advanced Excel and Microsoft office products proficiency.
Healthcare and Accounts Receivable experience preferred.
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
