The Opportunity :

Join our dynamic maintenance team dedicated to ensuring the security and functionality of locks and keys at the University of Central Florida. We are currently seeking a qualified Lockshop Manager to lead our team in maintaining key systems across main campus and satellite locations. This position plays a pivotal role as a primary point of customer contact, representing the organization with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and effective communication.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise a team of locksmiths, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
  • Develop, design, and create new key systems for UCF, including main campus and satellite campuses.
  • Ensure oversight of key access levels in collaboration with Traka and the Department of Security, adhering to university key policies.
  • Review work packages for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with UCF standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect shop and contractor work to ensure adherence to work management processes and quality standards.
  • Facilitate customer work review meetings and serve as a liaison between customers and service providers.
  • Develop and recommend procedures to improve departmental efficiency, reduce expenses, and increase productivity.
  • Participate in long-range planning and provide input for annual budgetary guidelines.
  • Monitor operating budgets and expenditures, taking corrective action as needed to control costs.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Analyze schedule status and manpower availability to prioritize and assign work efforts effectively.
Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or combination of relevant comparable education and supervisory experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications :
  • Four (4) years of experience in locksmith services or facility management, with two years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of electrified door hardware to include installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Well-versed in key control systems and electronic access control systems.
  • Experience developing, designing, and creating new key systems.
  • Proficient in budget management and operational planning.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Proficiency with using standard office software applications including Microsoft Office, work order systems (e.g., Integrated Work Management System), and telecommunication devices.
  • Experience maintaining an elevated level of security for highly sensitive areas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
  • Certification from a recognized locksmith association preferred.

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
