PURPOSE: This position assists clients with medication supervision, administration and documentation.
REPORTS TO: Nurse Manager
Medication Duties, Responsibilities and Additional Duties:
1. Be a Trained Medication Aide (TMA), or willing and able to complete course work and certification through a Minnesota State College.
2. Transcribe clinician orders into EMAR system to be reviewed by licensed nurse.
3. Review EMAR report for errors/signatures/initials.
4. Communication with pharmacy, requesting refills and tracking orders.
5. Supervise client self-administration of medications and document according to facility policy.
6. Receive medications from the pharmacy and directly from clients upon admission.
7. Communicate with nursing staff with regarding client concerns pertaining to medications.
8. Assist with orientation of new RA staff medication training.
9. Assist with scheduling physical exams/obtain ROI’s/fax documents to clinics.
10. Other duties as assigned by nursing staff.
Responsibilities
1. Be available to clients seeking guidance or support, as well as responding appropriately to identify needs.
2. Supervise client activities. Respond to emergencies and effectively manage crisis. Record pertinent client data.
3. Monitor health needs of clients; supervise clients in self-administration of prescribed medication.
4. Assist with tasks associated with clients arriving and leaving Wayside Recovery Center. Assist in various programs, as needed. Collect urine specimens for drug screens. Complete required paperwork at admission and discharge.
5. Role model behavior that is consistent with and supportive to people in recovery from substance use disorder. Such behavior will include upholding ethical standards of the program and reliable attendance.
Additional Duties
1. Maintain confidential client records. Perform other routine support tasks, including filing, photocopying, and answering telephones.
2. Shift-specific Tasks: provide transportation to clients in Wayside Recovery Center vehicles.
Minimum Requirements:
• Knowledge and experience in the field of substance use disorder and/or mental health.
 Trained Medication Aide (TMA), or willing and able to complete TMA training through MN State College.
• Microsoft Outlook/Office experience required • CPR for Healthcare Worker certification required
• High School Diploma required; some college preferred
• Good driving record and current driver’s license required
• No DUIs in last three years; No more than three moving violations/accidents in past three years
• Strong attention to detail
• Flexible schedule
• Must be able to demonstrate an ability to be responsive in an effective manner, while maintaining a warm and supportive atmosphere.
• Must value diversity and be able to relate well and enjoy working with women and children of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
• Must be 18 years or older.
