Please note this posiion is for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nightshift every weekend.
Skyland Trail is a multi-campus, non-profit mental health provider offering diverse services including residential treatment, partial hospitalization programming, intensive outpatient programming, and outpatient care.
This Nurse works as a professional practitioner employed at Skyland Trail in Residential Services to assume responsibility and accountability for the application of the Nursing process and the delivery of patient care. Is able to carry out clinical recommendations for care consistent with policies and procedures of Skyland Trail.
Duties:
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Serves as the liaison with community Psychiatrist and other Providers. Is licensed to take medication verbal/telephone orders from attending Psychiatrist and/or Medical Provider.
  • Administers medications and monitors self-administration of medications at residential sites and the Health and Wellness Clinics.
  • Performs medical and health screenings, as indicated. Collects specimens to include urine and blood, obtains vital signs and weighs patients. May give injections as needed.
  • Completes admissions evaluations to include: obtain all necessary information to prepare for comprehensive nursing, medical and psychiatric care during treatment.
  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiological and/or psychosocial changes in the patients' condition
  • Follows up on emergency, clinic and hospital visits
  • Documents patients responses to nursing and other interventions
  • Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patients' condition.
  • Orients patients and families to the facility as needed. Provides a safe environment with monitoring as appropriate for patients.
  • Monitors activities of visitors.
  • Performs room searches, as necessary.
  • Instructs patients in activities of daily living, interpersonal and socialization skills
  • Assists in crisis situations in coordination with the crisis communication plan.
  • Intervenes as necessary to decrease panic of patients.
  • Facilitates an educational group per week for patients
  • Participates in change of shift reports and ensures that medication management policies are followed.
  • Facilitates/Co-Facilitates community meetings as needed.
  • Serves as the alternate residential representative to the Safety and/or QI Committee if needed.
  • Participates in Infection Control and Medication Management Policy and Procedures reviews as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that are within the scope of this Nurses licensure as per the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and Skyland Trail's policy and procedure.
  • Maintains and stocks inventory of office and/or clinical supplies as appropriate to the position.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • A current Practical Nursing Licensure for Georgia without restrictions
  • Minimum of two years' experience
  • Current physical and PPD
  • Two years psychiatric nursing experience preferred
  • Unrestricted mobility and ability to physically support patients in the event of urgent or emergent medical issue
  • Licensed Practice Nursing licensure in the State of Georgia or e-NLC.
