Description Eliot is currently seeking fee a for service therapeutic mentor to act as a positive role model ,to engage the youth in activities, to meet with them and their families in their home. Ideal candidates should be self directed, motivated, creative and have experience mentoring youth. Currently we are in need of male mentors. Our Child, Youth and Family Behavioral Health Services encompass multiple service systems that include: Intensive Care Coordination, Family Support and Training, In-Home Therapy, Therapeutic Mentoring, Outpatient Counseling and Psychiatry, and other community based programming. Service delivery is collaborative, family driven and youth guided, with a focus on individual and family strengths, needs, and preferences. Responsibilities: Offer youth structured, one-to-one, strength-based support services for the purpose of addressing daily living, social and communication needs. Assist the youth in developing communication skills, enhancing conflict resolution skills and teaching of pro-social strategies through targeted activities. Support, coach and train the youth in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution, and relating appropriately to other children and adolescents and adults in recreational and social activities pursuant to a behavioral health treatment plan. Expose youth to social situations in which age appropriate skills can be acquired and practiced, through role playing and behavioral rehearsals. Provide services to the youth in the home and the community. Engage the youth in activities that teach alternative strategies, develop communication skills, and enhance conflict resolution skills. Meet with the youth’s family to share skill building activities, update on progress and engage in treatment goals.Meet established productivity target. Acquire training in areas that will enhance skill base including: Wraparound, Community Resources and Services, Trauma Informed Care, behavior management support and interventions and safety planning. Schedule: Varied as the role requires you to create your own schedule related to therapeutic work.
