POSITION TITLE:

School Psychologist

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Facilitates learning and promotes the cognitive, social, functional, and personal development of all students
  2. Identifies and assesses the learning, developmental, behavioral, functional, and mental health needs of students
  3. Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) to develop appropriate interventions and programs
  4. Assists in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to support student growth and development
  5. Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the student growth and development
  6. Delivers a planned and coordinated program of psychological services
  7. Participates as active IEP team member and contributes to building capacity in school EC staff
  8. Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice
  9. Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills
  10. Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  11. Keeps accurate records and adheres to timelines and standards

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Must hold or be eligible to obtain a North Carolina educator's license as a School Psychologist.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months

SALARY: NC School Psychologist Salary Schedule

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely
  • Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull
  • Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills
  • Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and students
  • Must be able to drive to variety of sites
  • Must be able to tolerate a noisy, busy work environment with occasional very loud noises
  • Must be able to physically assist with the therapeutic/de-escalation process
