The Role As a Tax Accountant at GTI, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of income and operational tax functions on our Finance team. This role will support the critical compliance aspects for the organization within the Corporate Accounting team.
Responsibilities
Supports the income tax provision process including current and deferred tax calculations and supporting workpapers
Supports the company's strategy for 280E by ensuring proper documentation being in place and stored appropriately
Participates in tax planning strategies including transfer pricing studies
Prepares miscellaneous compliance duties, such as sales and use tax filings, personal property taxes, and other compliance projects, as required
Supports the quarterly and annual audit process including documenting support for positions taken adhering to ASC740
Supports mergers and acquisition related activity as needed
Coordinates all income and operational tax filings and other compliance projects, as required
Prepares supporting schedules for financial statements and quarterly and annual regulatory filings using applicable systems
Performs period-end financial close responsibilities
Prepares any adjusting entries necessary resulting from reconciliations
Supports internal customers by researching questions and investigating variances on the financial statements
Maintains standard operating procedures including month-beginning and month-end checklists
Maintains a proper system of effective internal controls
Effectively communicates and collaborates within the Accounting team and cross functionally to ensure proper workflow and adherence to standard operating policies and procedures
Supports Local, State, and Federal tax agency audits
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and
1+ years of related experience
CPA preferred
Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment
Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
Possesses a high level of critical thinking and attention to detail and accuracy
Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
