Systems Test Specialist Engineer

<strong>Job Summary:</strong> <br> <br>The Systems Test Specialist Engineer will be responsible for supporting bench and customer testing for the development of large-scale Energy Storage products and subsystems.<br> <br>The Systems Test Specialist Engineer will be responsible for working cross-functionally, collaborating with systems engineering, validation, testing, product engineering, software engineering, and program management teams to define and execute development testing designed to verify system-level and subsystem-level requirements. This individual will also create problem reports and drive resolution of these problems, and collect, process, analyze, and communicate test data to internal and external customers.<br> <br> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong> <ul> <li>Conceptualize and create tools, test setups for monitoring and evaluating product performance.</li> <li>Deliver solutions to complex test problems such as strategy, approach, and scalability.</li> <li>Define and document test cases, test strategies, and analyze and document test data and results.</li> <li>Utilize hands-on experience in troubleshooting and triaging complex electrical schematics, PCBs, and embedded system designs.</li> <li>Collaborate with specialists to conduct root cause analyses and provide support.</li> <li>Establish and maintain comprehensive equipment documentation, spare parts lists, and preventative maintenance schedules.</li> <li>Design and oversee critical interfaces within systems to facilitate component reuse and adherence to standard methodologies.</li> <li>Execute test plans for the development of battery pack systems to ensure compliance with system requirements.</li> <li>Gather, process, analyze, and communicate test data internally.</li> <li>Lead data analysis endeavors and interpretations pertaining to battery performance.</li> <li>Prepare and present test reports, including tables/charts, to the internal team.</li> <li>Keep the team and requirement management system updated with test results and support project teams in tracking status.</li> <li>Offer technical expertise in investigating system issues and support root cause analysis, mitigation, and corrective action planning.</li> <li>Adhere to federal and state regulations.</li> <li>Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.</li> <li>Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. </li> <li>Predictable and reliable attendance.</li></ul> <strong>Position Qualifications:</strong> <br> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.</li> <li>Minimum of three (3) years engineering experience in systems testing, system verification, or Hardware in the Loop (HIL) [LK1] testing of battery and low or high-voltage products.</li> <li>Minimum of three (3) years engineering experience in lithium-ion battery systems testing on large-scale energy storage and battery pack programs preferred.</li> <li>Experience analyzing, debugging, and reworking electrical circuits, components, and subsystems using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DC power supplies, programmable loads, thermal probes, and other equipment.</li> <li>Experience developing and executing automated tests using tools such as LabView, MATLAB.</li> <li>Experienced with the handling of both low and high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems. </li> <li>Experienced communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, and cross-functional teams.</li> <li>Experience with Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).</li> <li>Experience with Vector Tools.</li> <li>General lab or shop experience including use of tools like multimeter, power tools, and similar.</li> <li>Product experience with Li-Ion batteries, battery pack design, power systems, alternative energy systems, electronic control units (ECUs), battery management systems (BMS), MEMS, and sensors.</li> <li>Educated on common lithium-ion cell, module, and battery pack test certifications.</li> <li>Ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed (less than 10% travel on average).</li></ul> <strong>Key Competencies:</strong> <ul> <li> <strong>Decision Making & Analysis:</strong> Makes sound decisions based upon a mixture of data-driven analysis, expertise, experience, and judgment; collects relevant information, seeks input from others, and identifies connections and/or root causes of problems.</li> <li> <strong>Takes Initiative:</strong> Exhibits strong drive for results and success; conveys a sense of urgency and drives issues to closure; persists despite obstacles and opposition.</li> <li> <strong>Continual Improvement:</strong> Displays a consistent orientation toward producing the highest quality products or services, while keeping a focus on sustainability.
