Spirit Maine's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.

Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.

Your role: Spirit Maine is seeking a versatile Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Systems Engineer , you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization’s network infrastructure and systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT environment, encompassing both networking and systems administration tasks.

** Job Responsibilities:**

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, highly available systems both on premises and in the cloud, while also managing network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs to ensure optimal performance and security
  • Developing and maintaining system documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and processes
  • Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Proactively ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Performing system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches, and resolving software-related problems
  • Ensuring security through access controls, backups, and firewalls
  • Participating in disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Providing technical support and guidance to stakeholders and other teams within the organization
  • Collaborating with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to meet business goals
  • Provides On-call support (24x7) to assist with troubleshooting, escalation, or recovery of failing equipment
  • Trains Technical Analysts and Sr. Technical Analysts as needed

** What we need from you:**

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Requires minimum of three to five years’ experience in a technical role directly supporting desktop and/or application servers, networks in an Information Technology environment
  • Advanced training and/or certification in network, server and security standards, equipment and protocols are also desired
  • Strong statistical and analytical tools for system monitoring
  • Strong expertise in network administration and IT infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN
