Structural Engineer - Senior Level
Columbia Energy and Environmental Services, an established small business headquartered in Richland, WA, which offers full-service engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation and controls, and technology development. Columbia Energy currently has an opening for a Structural Engineer with 5 to 15 years of experience. Columbia Energy is seeking engineers interested in advancing their career with opportunities to serve as design engineers on design/build/test projects, technical leads, project engineers, and project managers.
Job Responsibilities/Duties will include:

  • Identify, evaluate, and test unique design solutions for projects involved in: nuclear and hazardous waste remediation; equipment installation and support, chemical processing; and commercial development
  • Conduct design analysis to established codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ASCE, etc.)
  • Ability to work safely in office and shop environments and have a safety focus in all aspects of assigned roles
  • Design of lifting fixtures and tooling to support fabrication
  • Perform structural calculations to verify equipment design and installations meet contract specified load combinations and criteria
  • Provide support to multiple simultaneous projects and project teams
  • Work with designers to produce detail design drawings
  • Generate test plans/procedures and support system testing
  • Maintenance of configuration and control of baseline drawings and documents
  • Ability to effectively communicate task status, progress, technical issues, and meet project deadlines
  • Review projects and ensure compliance with basic design
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET accredited university
Preferred Qualifications & Attributes
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Experienced with IBC, AISC, ACI standards and how to apply them
  • DOE experience
  • Proficient using FEA software such as Ansys, Risa3D
  • Self-starter with the ability to focus on project needs and delivery schedules
  • Ability to plan work activities and estimate durations for completing assigned tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to produce design deliverables
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and pride of ownership
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and learn new skills while contributing to project teams
