Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSEThe Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under the direction of a Licensed Practitioner, Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides basic nursing care and assists with activities of daily living to a designated group ofhealthcare consumers. In addition, creates an organized work environment that is conducive to efficient workflow for the clinical staff. Provides services which encompass the spiritual, physiological, social, and psychological aspects of care of the sick, prevention of disease, or conservation of health. The position contributes to the mission and core values of CHI Health.ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES1. Under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practitioner, RN or LPN, participates in the nursing process which includes: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate. The nursing process is an ongoing process that can end at any stage.2. Assessment - Contributes to the assessment of the health status of the healthcare consumer.3. Plan - Contributes to the plan of care through observation, data collection and communication of findings to the appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team.4. Implement - Provides basic patient care activities based on the plan of care and as . Evaluate - Contributes to the evaluation of the healthcare consumer by observing responses to interventions and communicating findings to the appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team.6. Documents cares provided in the healthcare consumer's record.7. Demonstrates personal and professional responsibility for ongoing development, practice, and education. Maintains a safe work environment. Fosters a collaborative environment in support of the nursing profession8. Performs clerical functions to include by not limited to- filing, maintaining patient logs, generating reports, records and scheduling patient appointments.9. Sets priorities for response and communicates with appropriate personnel.10. Responds appropriately in emergency situations as support for clinical staff. Qualifications Required Licensure and CertificationsRequire active certification as a Nurse Assistant on the Nebraska and/or Iowa Nurse Aide Registry depending on the state worked.Basic Life Support is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications - American Heart Association: Basic Life Support.Skilled Nursing Facility Only:Must have successfully completed the 75-hour state approved course for Nursing Assistant if hired into the Nursing Assistant position after April 30, 1998.Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of current Certified Nursing Assistant scope of practice, critical thinking skills, professional verbal and written communication skills, technical/computer skills, attention to detail, customer service skills, adaptability, maintain confidentiality.
