Electrician II
MR07 - Starting rate dependent on candidate qualifications and experience
The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all campus facilities which includes buildings, grounds, and utility systems. The Electrician installs, operates, and maintains electrical systems and equipment for the UT Knoxville Campus. He also works as necessary to aid contractors and other crafts. The electrician also trains craft assistants as needed. This position provides good customer service to internal and external customers. The Electrician will support electrical needs for events and special occasions.
Qualifications:
Job Duties:
• Pulling wire and making up panel boards and other electrical equipment
• Bending, threading, and installing conduit as necessary
• Maintain lighting systems and controls of various type
• Maintain panel boards and switchboards of various types and size
• Maintain transformers, motors, and generator
• Perform troubleshooting of Electrical and Life Safety System
Skills and Abilities:
• Should have a good working knowledge of electrical system
• Ability to read blueprints and choose materials, and be able to work on live electrical components when necessary
• Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, under adverse conditions, and in high place
• Ability to perform hard physical work for long period
• Have good hand and eye coordination
• Should have mechanical aptitude and good knowledge of industrial electricity
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License
High School Education
Two (2) years experience along with technical training in industrial electricity OR Four (4) years as a journeyman electrician with no technical training.
