IT Support Consultant Nurse Call

Iowa Health Care department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking an IT Support Consultant to assist with the implementation of Raul and nurse call systems throughout the enterprise by working directly with contractors and end users. Work will be performed in an active construction, inpatient, and clinical setting. Other duties will include the ongoing support of all UIHC nurse call systems within the greater Iowa City/Coralville metro area.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with rollout of standardized nurse call systems and subsystems facility wide.
  • Assist with statement of work and floor plans that show existing systems for demolition and new installation.
  • Troubleshoots and provides technical support on hardware and software applications and integrations.
  • Provides direct end user assistance.
  • Evaluates new and existing nurse call hardware and software for areas of insufficiencies and redundancies.
  • Provides input to management for unit staff technical education and other support activities, as required.
  • Works directly with end users to provide training.
  • Take self-study and vendor sponsored classes pertaining to technical system software and hardware, as needed.
  • Assist with updating system documentation to ensure updated/knowledge transfer.
  • Assist with the implementation of approved projects, providing project supports and services.
  • May manage small projects or one or more phases of larger projects.
  • Provides functional and/or administrative supervision to assigned staff.
  • Participates with management in interviewing and evaluating candidates when vacancies in unit staff occur.

Pay Grade:

Salary: $49,511.00 to commensurate – 4A

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience

Experience Requirements

  • Experience (typically 1-3 years) configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting integrated communications systems.
  • Working knowledge of electric circuits and wiring in low-voltage applications, to include working from circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, and blueprints/floor plans.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with a variety of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to move and install equipment, ascend/descent ladders, and use tools effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong customer service focus.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized, ability to analyze complex workflow problems, and recommend solutions.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with nurse call systems (Rauland, Ascom, and Dukane), subsystems, and integrations.
  • Experience with technical process documentation.
  • Knowledge of servers, virtual servers, computer networking, and network topology.
  • Experience with end-user support and training.
  • Experience working on and/or overseeing projects while adhering to deadlines.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and Visio for creation of Scope of Work.
  • Experience working in a hospital or similar healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of UL1069 and NFPA99 requirements.
