Inspector - Maintenance Engineering & Inspection - St. Augustine , FL
Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is adding an Inspector to our Maintenance Engineering & Inspection team. ICE is a full-service transportation consulting and design firm specializing in highways, bridges/structures, hydrology/hydraulic design, geotechnical engineering, and foundation testing, environmental documentation (NEPA) construction services, and aviation design. Our firm has grown to nearly 500 employees since its inception in 2005 which includes over 130 Licensed Professionals. The Maintenance Engineering & Inspection Senior Inspector will be responsible for the inspection of transportation construction projects.
Position Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Engineering & Inspection Inspector, you will be:
  • Responsible for familiarity with the Department's Procedures covering the project-related duties as stated above and proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform those duties.
  • Responsible for exercising independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to field aspects of the project.
  • Responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing the lower-level inspectors.
  • Responsible for performing work under the general supervision of the Project Administrator and Senior Inspector.
  • Full-Time Position and may be required to work some nights and weekends as the project construction schedule requires.
Position Requirements
A successful Maintenance Engineering & Inspection Senior Inspector will have:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • One 1 year of CEI/MEI experience in the construction of roadway or bridge structures or 4 years of CEI/MEI experience in roadway or bridge construction is required.
  • A valid Driver's License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a pre-employment screening.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • ICE is a drug-free workplace.

The Maintenance Engineering & Inspection Senior Inspector must have the following as required by the scope of work for the intended assignment:
  • FDOT Advanced MOT
  • CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II
  • CTQP Concrete Transportation Construction Inspector (CTCI) Level II (all bridges)
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
  • CTQP Grouting Technician Level I
  • CTQP Post-Tensioning Technician Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FNGLA Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA)
  • FCLT Florida Certified Landscape Technician
  • Possess current licensure from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs in the following three categories pertaining to herbicide: core curriculum, right of way, and aquatics.
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety

Physical and Environmental Requirements
The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.
Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally, working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic.
Hours of Operation
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
