Job Summary: Retired teacher, librarian, office manager, nurse or secretary? This may be the perfect part-time job for you. Rewarding work with a great team awaits you! Seeking an organized and dedicated professional who enjoys working with seniors. Responsible for answering the phones, registering seniors as new members, registering members for events and programs, processing cash and checks through a register and processing payments through our database. Occasional assistance with program set up, including lifting and moving chairs, will be required. Computer proficiency required for this job function. Most job functions are completed through our computer database.
Work Schedule: Permanent Part Time. Monday through Friday 18 hours per week. In person daytime flexible schedule. Not to exceed 900 hours per year.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Answer phones, screen and register individuals for programs.
  • Enter program registrations into a database.
  • Process payments.
  • Provide callers with appropriate information about the center.
  • Greet all visitors to the center office.
  • Communicate all issues and concerns regarding programs and new members to the Director.
  • Assist with filing, faxing, copying, mailing, typing, records maintenance as needed.
  • Occasionally help set up for programs and/or assist at events.
  • Manage specific projects within the center with the oversight of the Director.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Bend, push, lift up to 20 lbs., and/or move items as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong customer service and organization skills.
  • 3 years of clerical or professional office experience.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Willing to be flexible and adapt to a changing work environment.
  • Must have a kind heart, be patient and work well with seniors.
Location:
Bishops Corner and Elmwood Senior Center are located in West Hartford, CT and serve seniors of the Town of West Hartford and surrounding areas. We are an active and engaged organization focused on exceeding the expectations of our community! Seniors are at the heart of everything we do! This job will be located at Bishops Corner. Training will be provided at both locations. Cross coverage may be required on occasion.
